RARE ANTIQUE BPOE BENEVOLENT PROTECTIVE ORDER OF ELKS KEY CHAIN FOB ID TAG DOG TAG SOLDIER TAG NICKEL SILVER
Rare! NOS, New Old Stock. These date back to about late the 1890's to early 1900's. Made in the USA. They were used as ID tags, key tags, key fobs, identification tags luggage / trunk tags, dog tags. Their main purpose was to return lost keys and other important items back to their rightful owners. These were very popular with soldiers in both WWI and WWII and used as ID tags and foot locker tags. If you're reading this ad you already know how rare these fobs are. The fact they are blank and not engraved make them even rarer. I only have a few of these gems, so get them while you can!
Made out of nickel-silver also called German silver. Nickel silver is stronger and more expensive than brass. And, it doesn't tarnish as much as brass. Back in the day manufacturers chose nickel-silver over brass for higher quality items like these fobs.
These look gorgeous and resemble sterling silver. Perfect for stamping and engraving.
These were part of an enormous Dallas locksmith collection with many items dating back to the Civil War.
