I call it "Just a Shadow" named after the song by Scottish Band Big Country. It is oil on canvas and a small painting at roughly 11 by 14 inches. Mostly flat, there are some ares thick to emphasis the fur and stucco. My videos show the layering and detail being slowly built up!
The painting depicts a cat from Vatolakkos, Grevena Greece! Like usual, I was trying to search for a subject matter that is not typically painted about Greece, such as the islands, ruins, etc. I chose instead a stray cat set upon a building that is falling apart and wanted the viewer to visually feel the texture of both the rough wall and stone work and the softness of fur.
