Pedro Galarza Durán was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, in 1882.
He was an impressionist painter of the modern Mexican school, as Joaquín Clausell.
In his adolescence, Pedro Galarza joined the Mexican Revolution and became a trusted officer of General Celestino Gasca, to whom he must have studied at the Academia de San Carlos. His teachers were Mateo Herrera, Albarrán, Pacheco, and others, and they were the precursor group of the modern Mexican movement. Pedro Galarza continued and developed within the contemporary concept of Mexican painting.
Carried out a large number of easel works; many are in private collections in Mexico and abroad.
Pedro Galarza was an outstanding artist of the twentieth century Mexico; he preserved his individuality, painting understanding and expressing nature as he perceived it.
